Woodlands Board to Vote on 2025 Budget & Tax Rate

**The Woodlands Township Board to Vote on 2025 Budget, Property Tax Rate Monday**

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Township Board of Directors is slated to make pivotal financial decisions regarding the community’s future on Monday, August 26, 2024. The Board will convene at 6:00 PM in the Board Chambers, located at 2801 Technology Forest Blvd, to consider and potentially adopt the 2024 Property Tax Rate and the comprehensive 2025 Budget.

Central to the discussion is the proposed property tax rate, which is set to remain steady at $0.1822 per $100 valuation, matching the rate from the previous year. This rate is designated by the Township as the “No-New-Revenue Tax Rate.” While the rate itself is not increasing, a projected growth in property values across The Woodlands is expected to generate approximately $68.4 million for the 2025 budget. This represents a notable increase of $4.1 million compared to the revenue generated for the 2024 budget.

The proposed 2025 budget totals a substantial $181.6 million. This extensive financial plan is designed to fund a wide array of essential services critical to the quality of life for Township residents. Key allocations include the continued maintenance of parks and recreation facilities, vital public safety contracts with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable, and The Woodlands Fire Department. Environmental services and covenant enforcement also fall under this financial umbrella, ensuring the community’s standards and natural beauty are preserved.

For many homeowners, even a steady tax rate can translate to a higher tax bill if their property’s appraised value has increased. The Township’s reliance on property tax revenue underscores the direct link between local appraisals and funding for community services.

Prior to this final consideration, the Board has already engaged with the community through two public hearings on August 15 and August 22, allowing residents to voice their perspectives and ask questions regarding the budget and tax rate proposals.

Residents interested in understanding the details or wishing to offer their final input are strongly encouraged to attend the August 26 meeting. Further comprehensive information regarding the proposed budget and tax rate can be accessed on the Township’s official website: www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov.
