SI Group Boosts Innovation for Asia in Shanghai

SI Group, a leading global producer of performance additives, officially inaugurated its new Innovation Center in Shanghai, China, on February 27, 2024. The state-of-the-art facility, located in Shanghai’s Pudong district, marks a significant investment aimed at enhancing the company’s research and development capabilities and accelerating innovation, particularly for the Asia Pacific region.

Spanning 1,500 square meters, the new center is designed to bolster SI Group’s global innovation strategy, fostering closer collaboration with customers and speeding up the development of advanced solutions. The strategic location in Shanghai underscores the company’s commitment to leveraging the city’s robust talent pool and dynamic market environment.

David Luo, SI Group’s Head of Commercial and Asia Pacific, emphasized the center’s role in the company’s strategic vision. “This Innovation Center is a testament to our unwavering commitment to innovation and a customer-first approach,” Luo stated. “It allows us to effectively tap into Shanghai’s impressive talent pool, driving forward our efforts to deliver cutting-edge solutions.”

Robert Stianche, Senior Vice President of Innovation for SI Group, highlighted the facility’s importance within the company’s worldwide network. “This Shanghai hub is a crucial part of our global innovation centers,” Stianche added, “with a particular focus on developing more sustainable solutions and strengthening our local presence to better serve our customers in the region.”

The new center is equipped with advanced laboratories and sophisticated analytical equipment. It features dedicated application testing labs specifically tailored for key industries including rubber, plastics, adhesives, lubricants, and fuels. These specialized capabilities are expected to significantly improve how SI Group collaborates with its customers.

Frank Liu, Director of Asia Pacific Innovation, elaborated on the operational benefits. “These advanced capabilities will dramatically improve our ability to collaborate with customers, enabling us to bring new products to market much faster,” Liu explained.

Ultimately, the goal of the Shanghai Innovation Center is to expand SI Group’s product offerings, accelerate the creation of sustainable solutions, and solidify its position as a leader in performance additives, further strengthening its foothold in the crucial Asia Pacific market.
