**Armed Robbery at New Caney Whataburger Prompts Sheriff’s Appeal for Public Help**

NEW CANEY, Texas – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying and locating two suspects involved in an aggravated robbery that occurred in the early hours of Thursday, February 29th, 2024, at a Whataburger restaurant on US Highway 59. A 17-year-old male was reportedly robbed at gunpoint by two individuals who fled the scene in a distinctive vehicle.

The incident unfolded around 1:30 AM at the Whataburger located at 20387 US Highway 59 in New Caney. According to official reports from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the young victim was approached by two Black males. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun, which was brandished during the encounter as the victim’s phone and wallet were forcibly taken.

Following the robbery, the suspects quickly departed the scene in what witnesses described as an older model, dark gray or black Ford Focus. A crucial detail for identification is that the getaway vehicle was noted to be missing its front license plate. Law enforcement officials are hoping this specific characteristic will significantly aid in locating the perpetrators.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has launched a full investigation into the aggravated robbery, emphasizing the serious nature of offenses involving firearms and direct threats to public safety. Detective R. Miller is leading the inquiry and is urging anyone with information, no matter how minor it may seem, to come forward.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety of our community members and bringing those responsible for violent crimes to justice,” a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office stated. “Public cooperation is often invaluable in solving cases like this, especially when specific vehicle descriptions or identifying features are available. Any detail, however small, could be the key to identifying these individuals.”
