**The Woodlands Township Appoints Carrie W. Galatas as Permanent Chief Financial Officer**

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Township has officially announced the appointment of Carrie W. Galatas as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective April 29, 2024. Galatas, a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience in public sector finance, steps into the permanent role after serving as Interim CFO since January of this year.

Galatas is a familiar and respected figure within the Township’s finance department. She initially joined The Woodlands Township team in 2018 as the Assistant Director of Finance, quickly demonstrating her expertise and dedication to the community’s fiscal health. Her career has predominantly focused on local government finance, a critical area given the complexities of managing public funds for a thriving community like The Woodlands.

Prior to her tenure with the Township, Galatas held significant financial leadership positions. She served as the Finance Director for the City of Jersey Village in Texas and previously for the Village of Rosemont, Illinois, gaining extensive experience in diverse municipal financial operations. She began her professional journey in public accounting with Ernst & Young LLP in Houston, establishing a strong foundation in financial principles and practices.

Academically, Galatas is exceptionally qualified for the demanding role. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), underscoring her commitment to professional standards and expertise in financial management.

In her new capacity, Galatas will oversee all facets of The Woodlands Township’s financial operations, a comprehensive portfolio that includes managing the annual budget, financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, debt administration, and treasury and investment activities. This critical role ensures the fiscal stability and transparency essential for the Township’s continued growth and service delivery.

Chris Nunes, President and General Manager of The Woodlands Township, expressed his confidence in Galatas’s appointment. “Carrie’s extensive experience, dedication, and proven leadership make her an invaluable asset to our team,” Nunes stated. “She has made significant contributions since joining us in 2018, and her exceptional performance as interim CFO reaffirmed our confidence in her ability to lead our finance department effectively.”
