**Body Discovered in The Woodlands Pond Identified, Investigation Ongoing**

**THE WOODLANDS, TX –** Authorities have officially identified the body discovered last Friday, January 19th, in a local retention pond as Zachariah Scott Johnson, a 21-year-old resident of Spring. While the investigation into his death remains active, officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office state that no obvious signs of foul play have been observed at this time.

The grim discovery was made around 9:30 a.m. last Friday morning by a passerby in a retention pond located near South Millbend Drive and Shadowbend Place, a residential area within The Woodlands. Deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) were among the first responders to the scene. Due to the nature of the discovery, a fire department dive team was dispatched and successfully recovered Johnson’s body from the water.

Following the recovery, Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack ordered an autopsy to determine the precise cause and manner of death. On Tuesday, January 23rd, officials publicly confirmed Johnson’s identity. The results of the autopsy are pending and will be crucial in providing further clarity on the circumstances leading to his passing.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide/Violent Crimes Unit has taken charge of the ongoing investigation. Investigators are working diligently to piece together the events surrounding Johnson’s death. While initial observations suggest no immediate evidence of foul play, authorities emphasize that the investigation is active and all possibilities are being considered as they await further forensic and investigative details.
