Arrest made in The Woodlands shooting incident

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – May 22, 2024 – A 28-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night in The Woodlands, accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following a shooting at a local hotel that left one person injured.

Andrew David Garcia, 28, was taken into custody by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) on Tuesday, May 21, in connection with an incident earlier that day at the Drury Inn & Suites, located at 28189 I-45 North.

According to initial reports, Garcia allegedly shot a 27-year-old man. The victim, whose identity has not been released, later arrived at the Emergency Room at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Authorities confirmed that the victim is currently in stable condition.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting and a potential motive are currently under investigation by the MCSO. Investigators have not yet released details regarding the events preceding the alleged assault or the specific time of the incident, beyond stating it occurred “earlier today.” The Drury Inn & Suites, a prominent hotel along the busy I-45 corridor, is not typically associated with violent crime.

Garcia was booked into the Montgomery County Jail, where he awaits a bond hearing. As of Wednesday morning, his bond amount had not yet been set by a magistrate judge. He is expected to appear in court in the coming days to face the charges.
