**Brian Dawson Appointed Montgomery County Precinct 2 Commissioner**

CONROE, TX – The Montgomery County Commissioners Court has formally appointed Brian Dawson, 47, as the new Commissioner for Precinct 2, finalizing its selection during a meeting held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Dawson, who has served as Chief of Staff for Precinct 2 since October 2017, steps into the role vacated by Commissioner Charlie Riley, who retired effective December 31, 2023.

The appointment came after a 3-1 vote by the court. Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough, Commissioner James Noack (Precinct 4), and Commissioner Charles Bell (Precinct 3) all cast their votes in favor of Dawson. Commissioner Robert Walker (Precinct 1) supported Scott Perry, another one of the three finalists considered for the position.

“Brian Dawson has demonstrated exceptional dedication and an intricate understanding of Precinct 2’s needs and the broader county operations during his tenure as Chief of Staff,” stated County Judge Mark Keough following the vote. “His extensive experience within the precinct and the county auditor’s office makes him uniquely qualified to ensure a seamless transition and continued effective service for the residents.”

Dawson expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the Commissioners Court. “I am deeply honored and humbled by this appointment,” Dawson said. “Having worked closely with Commissioner Riley and the dedicated staff of Precinct 2 for many years, I have a clear vision for the needs of our community. I am committed to hitting the ground running, advocating tirelessly for our constituents, and ensuring our roads, infrastructure, and services remain top-notch.”

The court initiated the application process on December 15, 2023, with submissions closing on January 12, 2024. From an initial pool of 17 applicants, the Commissioners Court interviewed three finalists—Dawson, Perry, and Kristin Christ—on Monday, January 22, 2024, before making their final decision the following day.

A resident of Montgomery, Dawson is a proud graduate of Sam Houston State University. Prior to his role as Chief of Staff for Precinct 2, he served in the Montgomery County Auditor’s office, gaining valuable experience in county finances and operations. Beyond his professional duties, Dawson is an active member of the community, holding a board position for the Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce, volunteering with the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo, and maintaining membership in the Montgomery County Fair Association.

As Commissioner, Dawson will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of county roads and bridges within Precinct 2, managing the precinct’s budget, and participating in the broader governance of Montgomery County alongside his fellow commissioners. His immediate focus is expected to be on ongoing infrastructure projects and addressing constituent concerns.

Dawson is scheduled to be officially sworn into office on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at 8:00 AM in the Commissioners Courtroom, located at 501 N Thompson St., Conroe. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony. He will serve in the Commissioner role until the November 2024 general election, at which point voters will elect an individual to serve the remainder of the unexpired term, which concludes at the end of 2026. Dawson is expected to announce his intention to run for the seat in the upcoming election cycle.
