Juried Winter Art Show Debuts in The Woodlands

**”Winter in The Woodlands” Art Exhibition Unveils Local Interpretations of the Season at TWAC Gallery**

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Art & Culture (TWAC) Gallery officially opened its doors to “Winter in The Woodlands,” a new juried art exhibition, on Thursday, November 9, 2023. Locals are invited to immerse themselves in diverse artistic interpretations of the season, with the showcase running through Saturday, January 13, 2024. The gallery, a cornerstone of the local arts scene, is located at 9955 Woodlands Pkwy, Suite F, The Woodlands, TX 77382.

The exhibition, presented by TWAC, features a rich collection of artwork by local artists, all centered on the theme of winter as experienced in The Woodlands area. The opening reception, held from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on November 9th, offered attendees the first glimpse of the carefully selected pieces and provided an opportunity to connect with the artists and the vibrant local arts community.

Dr. Cynthia Knox, TWAC Executive Director and Curator of the exhibition, highlighted the unique challenge and beauty presented by the theme. “We were truly amazed by the creativity and skill demonstrated by our local artists,” said Dr. Knox, a seasoned arts administrator known for her dedication to fostering local talent. “They found remarkable ways to interpret winter, moving beyond traditional snowy scenes to explore the nuances of our Texas season – the quality of light, the festive spirit, and the quiet moments of reflection. Even with our milder Texas winters, artists found compelling ways to capture the season’s spirit, depicting everything from serene landscapes of crisp mornings to vibrant indoor scenes of warmth and community.”

To ensure the highest standards of artistic merit, a professional art conservator, Jennifer Houston, served as the meticulous judge for the exhibition. Houston, whose expertise lies in the preservation and authentication of fine art, brought a discerning eye to the selection process. Awards were presented at the reception, including the coveted Best of Show, First, Second, and Third Place, along with several Honorable Mentions, recognizing the standout works that best captured the essence of the theme.

TWAC, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to enriching The Woodlands community through cultural programming, education, and exhibitions that showcase local and regional artists. Its gallery serves as a vital hub for artistic expression and cultural dialogue.

The TWAC Gallery is open to the public free of charge, making it an accessible cultural experience for everyone in the community. It presents an excellent opportunity to immerse oneself in local art and perhaps discover unique, locally-created pieces for holiday gifts, as all exhibited artwork is available for purchase.
