The Woodlands Blood Drive: June 14

**The Woodlands Residents Urged to Donate at Critical Blood Drive June 14th**

THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands community is being called upon to answer a vital need for blood, with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center organizing a critical blood drive at The Woodlands Township building on **Friday, June 14th, 2024**. Donations are urgently needed to support patients in local hospitals and throughout the region.

The drive will run from **9:00 AM to 3:00 PM** in the **Board Room** of The Woodlands Township building, located at **2801 Technology Forest Blvd., The Woodlands, TX 77381**.

The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center emphasizes the continuous demand for blood products, which are essential for accident victims, surgical patients, individuals battling cancer, and those with chronic illnesses. With blood having a limited shelf life, a steady stream of donations is crucial to maintaining an adequate supply for immediate patient needs.

“Every single donation has the power to save lives right here in our community,” said Alice Thompson, a spokesperson for the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. “The need for blood is constant, and we rely on the generosity of our neighbors to ensure that critical supplies are available when a patient’s life depends on it. We especially encourage O-negative donors, the universal blood type, to participate, though all types are always needed.”

To help manage donor flow, appointments are highly encouraged and can be scheduled online by visiting **commitforlife.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/356515**. However, walk-ins are also warmly welcomed, space permitting, for those who find themselves with available time on the day of the drive.

Potential donors are reminded to bring a **photo ID** with them. To ensure a comfortable and successful donation experience, it is strongly recommended that individuals **eat a good meal and drink plenty of water** before arriving. Donors should also be in general good health and meet basic eligibility requirements, such as being at least 16 years old (with parental consent for minors, where applicable) and weighing at least 110 pounds.

This blood drive offers a direct and impactful way for The Woodlands residents to contribute to the health and well-being of their community. Donating blood is a safe, simple process that takes approximately an hour but can make an immeasurable difference in the lives of many.
