**Grand Oaks Grizzlies Roar into Playoffs After Dominant District 13-6A Championship Run**

SPRING, TX – The Grand Oaks Grizzlies baseball team has concluded an unparalleled district campaign, establishing themselves as a force to be reckoned with after securing the District 13-6A championship with an astonishing 13-1 record. This historic run marks a significant milestone for the young program, culminating in an impressive 25-5-1 overall mark for the season as they head into the UIL playoffs.

Under the guidance of head coach Mike Kleto, the Grizzlies swept aside much of their competition with a thoroughness that has left opponents reeling. Coach Kleto, in his third season at the helm, emphasized the team’s dedication. “This group has worked incredibly hard since the fall,” Kleto stated. “They bought into our system, and their commitment to each other and to excellence has truly paid off. To dominate a district as competitive as 13-6A the way they did is a testament to their grit and talent.”

Indeed, District 13-6A, known for its challenging matchups, witnessed Grand Oaks’ near-perfect performance, highlighting a depth of talent across the roster. The team’s offensive prowess was matched by stellar pitching, leading to multiple shutout victories.

One such dominant performance came against Willis, where the Grizzlies clinched a commanding 9-0 shutout. Senior pitcher Anthonyie Munoz was lights out on the mound, baffling Willis hitters through six innings, surrendering no earned runs while racking up seven strikeouts. At the plate, senior Kevin Jackson was instrumental, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Junior Brett Burns also had a breakout game, contributing a significant 3-for-4 performance that included a double and three RBIs, while senior Larry Drake added a crucial RBI, going 2-for-3.

The offensive and pitching fireworks continued in a 10-0 rout of Caney Creek. Senior Kyle Hutchins delivered a masterful performance, tossing five innings of no-hit, no-run baseball and striking out eleven batters. Munoz continued his hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Burns once again proved a formidable presence, going 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs.

The Grizzlies’ defensive mettle was on full display in a tight 3-0 shutout against College Park. Hutchins was the hero once more, pitching a complete game gem with no earned runs and seven strikeouts. Burns supplied the necessary offense, chipping in with an RBI to secure the victory.

This comprehensive success marks the Grand Oaks program’s strongest season since the school opened in 2018, signaling a new era for Grizzlies baseball. The team’s cohesiveness and execution on both sides of the ball have been key factors in their historic run.

With the District 13-6A championship trophy proudly displayed, the Grizzlies now turn their attention to the UIL Bi-District Round of the playoffs. They are set to face the Cypress Woods Wildcats, a formidable opponent from District 14-6A known for their strong pitching and aggressive baserunning. The series will be a best-of-three format.

Game 1 is scheduled for this Thursday, May 2nd, at 7 PM, at Cypress Woods High School.
The series shifts to Grand Oaks for Game 2 on Friday, May 3rd, also at 7 PM, at Grand Oaks High School.
