**”In the Pink of Health” Luncheon Shatters Records, Raising Over $1.2 Million for Breast Cancer Care in The Woodlands**

**THE WOODLANDS, TX – October 10, 2023** – Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center’s “In the Pink of Health” luncheon celebrated its 25th anniversary on Friday, October 6, 2023, by setting a new fundraising record, generating over $1.2 million net for local breast cancer services. The milestone event, held at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, pushes the organization’s cumulative gross fundraising over its quarter-century history to more than $36 million.

The record-breaking sum directly benefits Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, providing crucial funding for early detection programs, advanced diagnostic technology, and comprehensive support services for patients navigating a breast cancer diagnosis. This vital support ensures that residents in The Woodlands and surrounding communities have access to leading-edge care close to home.

“We are absolutely overwhelmed and profoundly grateful for the extraordinary generosity shown by our community at this year’s ‘In the Pink of Health’ luncheon,” said Cindy McHam, President and CEO of Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center, who served as an executive sponsor for the event. “To raise over $1.2 million net is an incredible testament to the unwavering commitment of our supporters, volunteers, and staff. These funds directly translate into enhanced services and, most importantly, lives saved and improved quality of life for so many.”

The event, a cornerstone of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, featured Dr. Jennifer Ashton, Senior Medical Contributor for CBS News, as its compelling keynote speaker. Dr. Ashton shared insights on health and wellness, emphasizing the critical role of early detection and patient advocacy.

A highlight of the anniversary celebration was the recognition of the luncheon’s visionary co-founders, Ann Snyder and Vicki Richmond, who established “In the Pink of Health” in 1999 with a mission to bring world-class breast health resources to The Woodlands. Their dedication over the past 25 years has been instrumental in the event’s enduring success and impact.

This year’s highly successful luncheon was skillfully co-chaired by Misti Jeter and DeAnn Guidry. “It has been an honor to lead this silver anniversary event,” Jeter commented. “The community’s response has been phenomenal, and it truly reflects how deeply breast cancer touches so many lives and the collective desire to make a difference.” Guidry added, “Seeing the direct impact these funds have on our neighbors, friends, and family members receiving care at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands is incredibly motivating. We are thankful for every donor, sponsor, and volunteer.”

Dr. Mary Ann Ellis, Medical Director of Breast Health for Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, spoke passionately about the tangible impact of the funds. “The contributions from ‘In the Pink of Health’ are absolutely critical. They enable us to invest in the latest mammography technology, expand our screening initiatives, and offer holistic support, including nurse navigation and counseling, that significantly eases the patient journey. This event truly empowers us to fight breast cancer on all fronts.”

The “In the Pink of Health” luncheon has grown to become one of the region’s premier fundraising events, consistently uniting the community in the fight against breast cancer. Its quarter-century legacy has built a strong foundation of support, ensuring Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center can continue to provide exceptional breast cancer care and services.

Looking ahead, the community can mark their calendars for the next “In the Pink of Health” luncheon, already scheduled for Friday, October 4, 2024.
