3 Arrested for Conroe Capital Murder

Conroe, Texas – Three Houston residents are facing Capital Murder charges following the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Michael Shane Jones in Conroe late last month. The Conroe Police Department announced the arrests of the three suspects, who were taken into custody days after Jones was discovered shot on a sidewalk near a motel on I-45 North.

The investigation began in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Conroe Police patrol units were conducting routine patrols when they discovered Michael Shane Jones on a sidewalk in the 16000 block of I-45 North, in the vicinity of the WoodSpring Suites Extended Stay. Jones had sustained a gunshot wound. Conroe Fire Department medics quickly arrived on the scene and transported him to HCA Houston Healthcare Conroe, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Following Jones’s death, the Conroe Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, led by Detective J. Miller, immediately launched a comprehensive investigation. Detectives meticulously reviewed video surveillance footage from the area and conducted interviews with numerous witnesses. This intensive work ultimately led investigators to identify three individuals as suspects in Jones’s murder.

The first arrest occurred on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, when 22-year-old Katelyn Faith Crolley was apprehended in The Woodlands. She was subsequently transported to the Montgomery County Jail. Just two days later, on Friday, August 4, 2023, police located and arrested the two additional suspects in Houston: Elias Omar Ramirez, 21, and Jaiven Jordan Thompson, 20. Like Crolley, Ramirez and Thompson were also transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

All three suspects – Katelyn Faith Crolley, Elias Omar Ramirez, and Jaiven Jordan Thompson – are residents of Houston. They have each been formally charged with Capital Murder in connection with Michael Shane Jones’s death. As of publication, all three are being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail, which is standard procedure for Capital Murder charges.

Authorities have not yet released specific details regarding the motive for the shooting or the exact circumstances that led to Jones’s death, stating that the investigation remains ongoing.
